Our first morning in Bethlehem PA, volunteering for Obama 12. Some people might think it a bit strange that we have travelled thousands of miles, used up our holiday allocation and blown our (meagre) savings (again) to work in an election where we don’t even have a vote.

But the choice of who will be the next President of the United States of America matters to all of us, wherever we live.

This election is a clear choice between the future – one where woman and girls are treated as equals, where democratic government works with business to build strong, just economies and we all matter, regardless of age, background or ethnicity. Obama’s plan for America is a blueprint for the world.

The Republicans offer a step back into the past, an old world, where white men are in charge, the rich get richer on the back of our labour and only a select few have a voice.

It’s a no-brainer really.
